District Administration Ganderbal and Civil Society Tullamulla Celebrate World Environment Day

GANDERBAL, 5 June: The District Administration Ganderbal, in collaboration with Civil Society Tullamulla and Tehsil Administration Tullamulla, celebrated World Environment Day today in Tullamulla, Ganderbal.

World Environment Day, an initiative by the United Nations, aims to encourage awareness and action for the protection of our environment. This year’s event emphasized the importance of the environment and reminded people not to take nature for granted.

Scores of students from various schools in Tullamulla actively participated, showcasing their commitment to environmental conservation. The event saw the presence of key officials including the Chief Education Officer Ganderbal and the Zonal Education Officer Tullamulla, who supported and ensured the smooth execution of the program.

SP Headquarter Gh Hassan, DFO Sindh Forest Division Ganderbal Danish Khan, Tehsildar Tullamulla Javaid Ahmad Zargar, Principal of Govt Girls Higher Secondary Tullamulla Farooq Ahmad Sofi, Headmaster BHS Tullamulla, Chairman of Civil Society Tullamulla, social activist Bilal Bhat, Manager of Dharmarth Trust, and others spoke on the occasion. They emphasized the significance of Earth as our home and the collective responsibility to keep it clean and green. They pledged to take immediate action to protect and preserve the environment.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Gulzar Ahmad, highlighted the varied roles society and community play in preserving the environment from pollution and degradation. He stressed the need to raise awareness, support action, and protect the environment. “Plastic debris is entering the aquatic environment through direct dumping, and there is a need to check the entry of micro-plastics into the environment,” he said.

The event underscored the collective responsibility to safeguard the environment and called for immediate actions to make the world a better place to live.
